Auto Dealer Group Spent $215K on Lobbying in 4Q

An industry group that represents auto dealers spent $215,000 lobbying Congress and federal agencies during the fourth quarter on issues of trade, vehicle fuel standards and dealer closings, according to a recent disclosure report.

The American International Automobile Dealers Association spent less than the $250,000 it devoted to lobbying the same quarter of 2008, according to according to a lobbying report filed Jan. 21 with the House clerk's office.

The group spent $200,000 on lobbying during the third quarter of 2009.

The dealer group lobbied on legislation to reverse the closure of Chrysler and General Motors dealerships, a trade agreement with South Korea, estate taxes, fuel economy, greenhouse gas issues and loans to dealers from the Small Business Administration.
